Global Energy Award-winner Dr. Kaushik Rajashekara is working on several fascinating futuristic machines
Growing up, The Jetsons was one of my favourite cartoons. I
was fascinated by the visionary widgets on the show – especially their flying
buses . And relatively lately, I had an occasion to interact with a scientist
who's actually working on the conception of a ‘ flying vehicle ’ that can be
used by individualities for their diurnal commute, easing road transportation
across the globe.Dr. Kaushik Rajashekara, one of the world’s commanding experts
in the field of transport technologies, is working on several futuristic
systems that hold the eventuality to change the world and the way we travel.
The philanthropist of the Global Energy Prize 2022 – the loftiest award in the
field of energy –Dr. Rajashekara was one of the first masterminds to work on
conceptualising and also erecting an electronic vehicle, far before the
technology came extensively known.
“ When I entered
thee-mail about my selection, I couldn't believe it for a moment. This award
shows the significance of energy effectiveness enhancement and reducing
emigrations. I'm proud of the benefactions I've made to technologies that would
ameliorate the terrain. Also, I've travelled to about 60 countries giving
forums on colorful motifs at universities and conferences. It's humbling to
honor how numerous people contributed to my success, awaiting nothing in
return. ‘ It takes a vill ’ is veritably true in my case, and I'm fortunate
that my vill included some of the most encouraging and inspiring masterminds in
the field, ” he shares with Global Indian.
Presently a
Distinguished Professor of Engineering at the University of Houston, Dr
Rajashekara wishes to pass on all the knowledge he has gained in the last three
decades to new- age masterminds to insure that the elaboration of wisdom and
technology noway stops. “ After 35 times of working in the world’s well- known
pots, including ABB, GM, and Roll- Royce, I'm veritably happy to be in the
academic field. I'm making use of every occasion to educate and train the
coming generation of masterminds. In a way, I worked all my life to be a
professor and train others indeed when I was in the working assiduity, ” the
scholar says.
A humble launch
Born in a small vill called Devarayasamudram in
Karnataka,Dr. Rajashekara was a veritably bright pupil. Talking about his early
life, the scholar says that while his parents weren't veritably well- educated,
they always encouraged him and his siblings to exceed at academy. “ I suppose
nonage is a fascinating time. My mama took care of us in the vill as my father
had to work in a city about 100- km down. He visited us about formerly a month.
I had two elder sisters – one came a civil mastermind and the other a medical
croaker
, both of whom are
retired now. My parents didn't have any formal education. My father could read
and write a little Kannada, and my amma could n’t read moreover. But they
valued education and wanted us siblings to do OK well in life, ” shares the
scholar.
After finishing his
10th standard from a Kannada-medium academy,Dr. Rajashekara moved to Bangalore(
now Bengaluru) for farther education. “ It was quite a delicate time. I did n’t
know a word of English, and the Bengaluru academy was an English medium.
latterly, still, I learned five languages – Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Sanskrit,
and English. In my professional career, I tried to learn German, French,
Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese. Now I can still manage German, but not the
other four, ” laughs the scholar.
Passionate about learning further about the developments in the technology field,Dr. Rajashekara pursued a bachelorette’s degree in wisdom and calculi from Bangalore University in 1971. He soon started working at Cutler- Hammer and also Debikay Electronics, entering the field of power electronics. “ I worked on thyristor drives for paper and rolling manufactories and learned that a solid foundation in the introductory rudiments of engineering is a needful for real- world practical systems, ” he says.
